Thursday Night 5pm group walks and runs: Location: 12 Massasoit Drive North Attleboro
Held every Thursday night 51 weeks a year in the community: Brings out 25 to 40 children, teens, and parents, walking or running or a combination of both over a 1 mile course.
Saturday Morning 5 mile walks around Falls Pond:
Every Saturday morning 7am. rain or shine people are meeting to walk, talk, and enjoy
the outdoors.
Cross Country meets:
We provide 4 low key XC meets in the community for ages 6 to 14 Friday nights in the Fall. The meets provide training for the Pumpkin Patch Race youth race that has been a staple in Attleboro for over 20 years held one week after the last XC meet.
School Nutrition Seminars: Students in the Culinary Nutrition Class from Johnson & Wales University under the leadership of a professor, conduct Healthy Nutrition Seminars on a variety of topics in elementary schools.
Notice on ARAMARK school foodservice menus: (Entire Public School System) Notices about physical activities and nutrition information consistent with Activate Attleboro Programs. Very involved with serving healthy alternatives. All our partners are involved in encouraging eligible families to sign up for subsidized school lunch and breakfast and have forms available.
PAC (Physical Activity Club) collaboration with Hospital: Area pediatricians and family physicians refer overweight adolescents and their parents to PAC, our Youth Weight Management Program. This program is available to everyone in the community. No referral is needed.
Massachusetts Partnership for Healthy Weight
Ed Poirier Attleboro YMCA Youth Fitness Specialist sits on the Executive Board of
this Statewide Partnership. A vital link in gathering resources and information.
Newspaper features on Fit Kids:
The Daily newspaper agreed to focus its editorials on youth fitness.
City Wide Bike Route (3.2 miles):
A new city group that will be combining resources with Activate Attleboro in developing
safe bike routes in the city. 3.2 miles of the Bike Route opened September 23, 2006.

Ed Poirier Attleboro YMCA Youth Fitness Specialist is available to speak to civic
organizations, schools, community health fairs, and colleges, on fitness, overweight issues,
and other related topics.
