Matthew Joseph: Principal
I would like to welcome you to Hill-Roberts Elementary School. We are on a Journey Toward Excellence and our vision and goal is that powerful learning takes place for every student every day in every classroom in every school. What does powerful learning like? At Hill-Roberts, we do not want our students to simply learn to read, recall facts, solve math problems, or write reports. We want students, from an early age, to analyze and appreciate literature to better understand our world, to use math as a valuable tool to see relationships and patterns in their daily lives, and to write essays that share their point of view and why it is important to them.
Hill-Roberts Elementary School is a child centered, learning environment with high expectations that fosters active participation
of students, staff, family, and community where everyone will succeed. We are committed to provide students diverse learning
experiences that challenges, enriches, and supports them in a safe, risk free environment that develops a life long love for learning.
Welcome to Hill-Roberts...GO HUSKIES
Julie McManuis: Literacy Coach
Ensuring that students are successful readers and writers is a primary task of the Literacy Coach. Additionally, the coach works closely with teachers to collaborate on methodologies to make certain that best practices in literacy is a primary goal for all classes. Professional development for teachers and support staff is a fundamental aspect to the role of the Literacy Coach. Furthermore, by tracking and monitoring reading progress, the coach uses the data to drive instruction, intervention, and enrichment. Finally, the Literacy Coach in conjunction with the Principal determines the resources needed to meet the needs of every student and their learning style.
Kerry Hutchins: Math Coach
The Math Coach focuses on helping teachers to understand important math concepts and to understand student thinking about those concepts. She also helps teachers to develop techniques to support all students. The math coach role varies from modeling, to team-teaching, to leading, to data analysis. On-going data analysis is provided to target individual, small group and classroom needs, to ensure the success of every student.
